Dont reinstall anything...
Going full screen enables him to see the Option button that couldn't be accessed due to his resolution. Then just change it to a better one.

There are multiple ways to change your resolution such as personalize and for win8: 32/64bit there should be a button for "screen resolution" when you left click on the desktop. You can reinstall or access options when the game starts.
